As everybody else I'm sure, I have heard the $30 million that the gov. has allocated as payment to landowners to flood low-lying areas in an attempt to "short stop" as many birds as possible before they would reach the god awfull oil mess..Has anyone heard how it is broken down ? Is it the same $$ per acre anywhere, any crop ? I'm glad to hear of the effort but I have heard they are looking for millions of acres..but only with 30 million...It's gonna take more than $50 bucks an acre ...

Here in Louisiana ive read in the news paper that the gov. is willing to pay $50 to $75 per acre to reflood rice fields after the rice has been harvested. Thats the only crop ive heard about them flooding here but not sure.
I sure hope they do sounds like it might work . . . . only time will tell

Yes I hope it has the biggest possible impact on keeping the birds out of the oil..Flooding rice after harvest makes good sense..I would also like to find out what all states are or could be involved
