MINNESOTA WETLANDS RALLY
HuntingSnows.com Waterfowl hunters in Minnesota concerned with the poor hunting are teaming up again this year with conservation groups to demand the legislators carry through with promises made at last years rally. Last years rally consisted of 5,000 concerned hunters and conservationist from throughout the state asking that something be done about the poor quality of waterfowl habitat in Minnesota. This year groups are coming together again to ensure that the promises made at last years rally are kept. The key issue for this years rally will be funding. Hunters and conservation groups a like will be pressing the legislators to pass a proposed constitutional amendment allowing Minnesotans to vote to approve a long term, dedicated account for wildlife and outdoor recreation. Despite the success of last years rally this bill has weakened despite verbal support from lawmakers. If past, the bill would allow for a certain small percentage of the state sales tax to be put into an account for these activities. This is an issue that
faces not just Minnesota waterfowl hunters, but hunters up and down the
Mississippi flyway. More ducks bred in Minnesota not only means more
ducks for Minnesota, but more ducks for hunters in places like Louisiana,
Missouri, and Iowa too. All those interested in either attending or
learning more about the rally are encouraged to visit
